North Carolina Real Estate Broker License Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be a United States citizen, a non-citizen national or a qualified alien under federal law.
  • Three 30 classroom hour Postlicensing Courses make up the 90-hour postlicensing education requirement.
  • All prelicensing and postlicensing courses are available only as classroom courses
Continuing Education
  • Each Licensee must earn 8 hours of continuing education every year as required by law.

    The 8 hours required annually must include 4 hours in the mandatory update course developed annually by the Commission, and must be taken in a live classroom. We do not offer any live classroom courses.  The remaining 4 hours are electives and may be taken via distance methods, including online, by CD or by print. We offer a variety of North Carolina continuing education courses to fulfill the 4 elective hours.

NORTH CAROLINA REAL ESTATE COMMISSION RULES

  • All Online CE Courses MUST be completed within 30 DAYS of the date that you Register
  • You must complete each of the short exams at the end of each unit at least 90%. It is fine to scroll back and look up the correct answers to the exam questions.  You are not required to pass a Final Exam at the end of your Online CE Elective Course.
  • June 10th is the deadline for completing all CE Courses in North Carolina including Online CE Courses.
  • All Online CE Elective Courses must be completed no later than June 10th (regardless of the date that you registered for your Online CE Course).  (For example, if you begin an Online Course on June 8, you still must complete this course no later than June 10
